Plan the Mondays you can actually use
A weekly team meeting needs a list of dates, not an assumption that every month has four Mondays. If you are preparing an August 2026 meeting schedule, the fifth Monday changes the number of sessions you can book.
Use the count to check capacity, then review the matching dates against holidays, leave and venue availability. This tool counts calendar Mondays; it does not decide whether a particular Monday is a working day.
Choose the right schedule boundaries
- Choose This month or This year for a complete period, or edit Start date and End date for a project or term.
- Keep both dates included if an activity may happen on either boundary. Use Advanced: date boundaries when a boundary date must be left out.
- Read the total, First and Last dates, then open Matching dates to check the schedule. Results update as you edit; Calculate focuses the first field needing correction.
Remaining this year begins on the UTC date displayed below the inputs. If that date is Monday, it is counted unless you exclude the start. Reset returns to the current month and includes both boundaries.
Example: five Monday meetings in August 2026
For an illustrative weekly meeting, enter August 1 through August 31, 2026. The first matching Monday is August 3. Move forward seven calendar days at a time to get August 10, 17, 24 and 31.
That gives five possible meetings. If the office closes on August 31, excluding the end date reduces the count to four. A cancellation in the middle of the month needs a separate adjustment to your own schedule; the calculator does not have an individual-date exclusion list.
Matching dates: August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
Four weekly gaps + the first meeting = 5 Mondays
Exclude August 31: 5 − 1 = 4 Mondays
Why the first Monday matters
After applying any boundary exclusions, find the first Monday on or after the effective start. Count the complete seven-day intervals from that Monday to the effective end, then add one for the first Monday itself.
In the example, August 3 to August 31 contains four full seven-day gaps, so the result is five. A range ending before its first Monday returns zero. A same-day range returns one only when that date is a Monday and both boundaries are included.
Count = complete weeks from first matching Monday to effective end + 1
If no matching Monday remains inside the boundaries: count = 0
A yearly count is not always 52
A common year has 365 days: 52 full weeks and one extra day. A leap year has two extra days after those full weeks. Mondays therefore occur 52 or 53 times, depending on which weekdays receive the extra dates. For example, 2024 has 53 Mondays.
For long ranges, Matching dates shows at most 60 entries per page. Previous and Next move through the dates without changing the full total. First and Last always describe the whole selected range.
Check the dates before sharing the schedule
Use actual calendar dates, with the end on or after the start. An empty field or an impossible date needs correction; it is not a zero-Monday result. Calendar arithmetic uses UTC dates so daylight saving changes cannot add or remove a Monday.
Relative presets also use UTC, which can be a different date from your local today near midnight. Edit the range if your local planning date differs. The initial static result uses the displayed generation-date reference and refreshes to the current UTC period after the page becomes interactive.
Questions about mondays
Does a public holiday Monday still count?
Yes. Every calendar Monday in the selected range counts. Check your own holiday or closure calendar before treating the total as available work sessions.
Can I count every other Monday?
This tool counts every Monday. For a fortnightly schedule, use the exact dates as a starting list and select alternate dates from the correct first meeting.
Can I choose a different month or a range spanning years?
Yes. Edit Start date and End date to the required dates. The form switches to Between two dates and counts continuously across month and year boundaries.
Why did excluding the start leave the result unchanged?
An excluded boundary only changes the count when that boundary is a Monday. Excluding a Tuesday, for example, removes no Monday from the range.
